Requirements For Studying Nursing In Nigeria
According to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, the following are the approved entry requirements for Basic and Post Programmes
• The currently approved entry requirement is five (5) O’level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings from any of the following:
• West African Examination Council (WAEC),
• National Examination Council (NECO)
• National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB)
• Any student with foreign examination board result(s) is expected to submit an evaluation report or equivalent grading from the Federal Ministry of Education along with the result. • NOTE: Acceptable Minimum Age range for admission into Basic Nursing and Basic Midwifery Training program is 16.

Approved Schools Of Nursing And Midwifery In Nigeria
Before choosing a school of Nursing where you wish to study, you must confirm the accreditation status of the Institution you applied for.
The Council has accredited a total of Two Hundred and Ninety (290) Nursing Training Institutions in Nigeria including Schools of Nursing, Midwifery, Post Basic Nursing, and Departments of Nursing

An institution can have either Full or Provisional accreditation. The Full Accreditation Status lasts For Five (5) Years, while Provisional Accreditation Status Lasts For Two (2) Years
There can also be another status, which ‘EMBARGO ON STUDENTS’ INTAKE’
This is indefinite till the deficiencies of the Institution are rectified and the resource verification visit is conducted and a common decision is reached to lift the embargo by the board.
