WCEA License Renewal

In this blog post, we provide a comprehensive guide about WCEA license renewal and everything that you need to know about the WCEA App. As part of the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Program (MCPDP), WCEA and the Nigerian Nursing and Midwifery Council have launched subscription-based programs for nurses and midwives, effective January 1, 2023. A current membership is required for all nurses and midwives who want to use their WCEA certificates for licensure renewal.

A maximum of three credit units (30 hours) may be earned by Nigerian nurses and midwives through WCEA.

Diaspora nurses and midwives who are registered with the NMCN are required to complete three CEUs (30 hours) in order to renew their licenses. Thanks to our cooperation with e-integrity, NHS & Health Education England, and UK Royal Colleges, you will have access to over 100 courses covering all specialty areas that have received ANCC accreditation.

This is a result of continued collaboration between the World Continuing Education Alliance (WCEA) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to ensure nurses & midwives in Nigeria benefit from this world renowned free, open-access educational platform.

For Nigerian nurses, 30 hours of study amount to 3 credit units, which can be combined with another 3 credit units from any NMCN-accredited physical MCPDP-programs

Nigerian nurses are hereby urged to utilize this platform to their advantage for updating nursing knowledge & skills and for license renewal.

NMCN Introduces WCEA Fees: Nigerian nurses can renew their licenses through WCEA CPD courses.

1. Beginning on January 1, 2023, a subscription fee of ten thousand naira (N10,000) for Nigerian nurses and midwives and fifty dollars ($50) for those living abroad will be charged for each of the three credit units (30 hours) in a three-year cycle of WCEA CPD courses.

2. Six credit units of CPD, one of which must be MCPDP, are mandated for Nigerian nurses and midwives. WCEA, however, is only available for three credit units.

3. Prior to renewing their licenses, all nurses and midwives who are registered with the NMCN in the Diaspora and who do not have MCPDP certificates or other approved NMCN CPDs (such the NANNNA conference) must finish three credit units on the WCEA platform.

4. The WCEA site accepts payments by all methods permitted in Nigeria, including cards, USSD, bank transfers, cash deposits, and more.

5. Please be aware that VAT, transaction fees, and tax are not included in the fees mentioned above.
